Janin Guzman-Morales is a University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellow and member of CIEJ whose community informed science approach combines climate science and ethnographic methods of documenting traditional ecological knowledge to shed light on regional weather patterns relevant to rural farming communities in Central America. In her research on mesoscale regional climate, she has also worked extensively on Santa Ana Winds of Southern California and Northern Baja California and its effect on creating extreme fire weather conditions.
